About The Custom Decorator

The Custom Decorator is family owned and operated by sisters, Paulette A. Lilla and Theresa Plasse Fagan. The business started in their homes in the early 1990’s and quickly grew to warehouse space in Rockland.

In 1996, The Custom Decorator opened a showroom at the Washington Street address. It was a risky adventure for the first time shop owners but customer demand for a visual presentation of the product warranted the move. At the new location, with the help of window treatment and room settings displays around the shop, it proved to be much easier to present ideas to their customer. The Custom Decorator quickly expanded to related fields such as furniture, upholstery, slipcovers, carpeting, and bedding and of course blinds of all kinds! Today The Custom Decorator carries designer name fabrics, name brand blinds, and can manufacture anything soft for the home. Additionally, The Custom Decorator uses a network of resources such as installers, painters and wallpaper hangers, that help them finish your project in a professional and timely manner.

About the Designers:
Paulette is a former dressmaker and window treatments designer, and has a background in real estate. Paulette has a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts and has taken several courses in Interior Design at the New England School of Art and Design in Boston. Theresa has a background as retail buyer of window treatments & drapery hardware, as well as giftware and house wares. Theresa has two Associates Degrees; one in Liberal Arts and one in Interior Design from Newbury College in Brookline. Together the designers have combined their experiences and individual strengths to create The Custom Decorator.
