The Custom Decorator has been in business since 1992 servicing Boston, the South Shore, the South Coast, Cape Cod and inside of Route 495.

Past customers came to know us at our previous shop location on Rte 53 in Pembroke, where we were located for 16 years. In May of 2011, we moved the showroom to a beautiful, larger store front in downtown Middleboro at 38 Center Street.

The showroom is open to the public and is arranged to accommodate our customers’ needs for visual presentation of our products. Displayed are working models of shades and blinds, including motorized shades. Most notably, we are a Hunter Douglas Showcase dealer offering expertise on the products including measuring, installation by Hunter Douglas certified installers, service & repair of all Hunter Douglas shades, blinds and shutters.

Additionally we sell many other blinds and shades from names that may be familiar to you including Graber, Comfortex, Kirsch and ADO, a bridge between a blind and a drapery.

In the Showroom you’ll find over 1,000 fabric books that are suitable for residential or commercial use for the manufacturing of draperies, valances, cornices and other window treatments. Also, the fabrics may be used for bedding, table linens, re-upholstery, or anything custom for the home or office. We make most items that are familiar to you, but are delighted to design the unique or unusual.

The Custom Decorator is capable of managing small and large home renovations including paint & paper selections, furniture & flooring selections, floor plan use, flooring selections, and window treatments.

We have been involved with many commercial office renovations in Boston, on the South Shore and Cape Cod. Additionally, we have assisted in the renovation of group residences including New England Villages in Pembroke, The Hannah B. Shaw Home in Middleboro, MA and our largest project has been The Linden Ponds campus in Hingham, having served more than 700 residences.

About The Designers

Paulette Lilla, the owner of The Custom Decorator, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bridgewater State College, has studied abroad at the Universite de Caen, France and at the New England School of Art and Design, Boston, MA. Paulette works with residential and commercial clients creating interiors through the use of her extensive showroom resources, The Design Center in Boston and local artisans. A former dressmaker, Paulette uses her experiences in pattern making to design unique window treatments, decorative pillows, shaped seat cushions and many one-of-a kind accessories including bassinette and crib accessories, specialty items such as bird cage covers, vanity skirts, and many more.

Theresa Fagan has a background as retail buyer of window treatments & drapery hardware, as well as giftware and house wares. Theresa has two Associates Degrees; Liberal Arts from Massasoit Community College and Interior Design from Newbury College, Brookline, MA. Theresa designs for clients at the shop or in their home, and manages the business office of The Custom Decorator.
